Trailer for MONSTER HOUSE online

With Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg as Executive Producers

The trailer for Columbia Pictures' MONSTER HOUSE is now online. It's an animated movie about three teens who discover that their neighbour's house is really a living, breathing, scary monster. Sounds fun doesn't it? Well it certainly looks it too.

It's quite an impressive cast, with voices provided by Steve Buscemi, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Napolean Dynamite's Jon Heder and Jason Lee. Enjoy!

Empire's Goblet of Fire Review Online

With the quote "you can’t help wishing the filmmakers had been bolder with the adaptation", and only 3 stars out of 5 glaring at us from the screen...

With all the hype about Potter 4 over the last few months, I was really hoping this film was going to blow everyone away - even non-Potter fans. It seems however, that we'll just have to pin our hopes on the 5th installment to accomplish that task, as Empire were most certainly not blown away:

... " It’s a shame (Director Mike Newell) is less successful in handling the necessary novel-to-screen compression " ... " the story editing goes through some distinctly choppy patches. It looks as if several scenes were filmed at greater length, surviving in quick snippets that are frequently unnecessary " ... " there’s too much contrasting material with which to contend " ...

But it's not all bad!

... " For the maturing Potter core audience this is well-developed, with teasing terrors and skin-crawling set-pieces as the dark Lord Voldemort rises again " ... " Mike Newell, as the first British director entrusted with a series entry, oversees plenty of spiffing special-effects action " ...

The official Superman Returns website is now online as of yesterday (November 9th).

The site currently includes some information on the story, a comic book style interface for the video journals, photos and downloads (only buddy icons and wallpaper at the moment).

The teaser trailer is expected to be shown with Warner Bros' Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire so will probably be made available online once that gets released on November 18th.

I don't think I've ever wanted to watch a film so much in all my life. And just to add to my already huge NEED to watch King Kong, along comes an 'inside look' into the movie with spectacular new footage including Kong fighting Rex, Kong alone with Ann in deserted New York, and best of all... Kong on the Empire State Building!!!

Two completely contrasting trailers for you to check out at Yahoo Movies (and I don't just mean the genre). The Producers looks slick, stylish and funny whilst Underworld: Evolution looks like a cross between the first outing and Van Helsing - not the best mix! I'm being harsh though - it could be good fun.

"The Producers (a remake of the 1968 Mel Brooks classic) tells the story of a down on his luck producer (Nathan Lane) and his accountant (Matthew Broderick) and their get rich quick plan." View the trailer here.

Composer Howard Shore leaves King Kong

James Newton Howard steps in to compose the score

At first I thought this was dreadful news, but after reading Peter Jackson's statement on the issue I feel a little better. You see, it wasn't a case of the award winning Lord of the Rings composer quitting the project or anything drastic like that. Peter and Howard came to a mutual agreement to part ways. Not only that but James Newton Howard (pictured below) is receiving much praise of late and if Peter likes him, that should be good enough for all of us!

Peter Jackson's statement: "I have greatly enjoyed my collaborations with Howard Shore, whose musical themes made immeasurable contributions to the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. During the last few weeks, Howard and I came to realize that we had differing creative aspirations for the score of King Kong Rather than waste time arguing with a friend and trying to unify our points of view, we decided amicably to let another composer score the film. I'm looking forward to working with James Newton Howard, a composer whose work I've long admired, and I thank Howard Shore, whose talent is surpassed only by his graciousness."

And my opinion is changing...

When all the rumours started many months ago about Layer Cake's Daniel Craig being in the running for the new James Bond, I turned my lip up. And I still wasn't convinced after seeing him Layer Cake either.

However, the image on the Ain't It Cool News website and also on Empire Online has made me re-think a little... Scrap that - it's made me re-think a lot. He looks as suave and sophisticated as any James Bond should be - at the same time as looking lethal!

Earlier this evening, I clicked on my 'Apple Movie Trailers' bookmark (as I do most days) and for the first time ever, I was confronted not by a glittering array of posters and links to QuickTime movie trailers, but instead timeout error after timeout error. By the looks of things, Apple Movie Trailers had disappeared off the face of the planet... "NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"

To my great relief, all was back to normal after about 10 minutes. In fact, it was BETTER than normal. I was faced with a slick new design, a new layout system and a whole bundle of High Definition QuickTime movies! Wahoo!

When I read the headline "Sly Stallone Starts Rocky 6 in December", I thought it was some sort of joke. And after reading the story, I laughed out loud! Unfortunately, I wasn't laughing because it was a joke.

I will be very shocked if this film doesn't make IMDb's 100 Worst Movies of all Time!

What's next for the obviously desperate Stallone? Please no!

Simon Pegg to star as Cruise's Ally in Mission Impossible 3

Just as Pegg's character in Spaced, Tim Bisley celebrates when he realises he's got some Jaffa Cakes in his coat pocket, I now celebrate at this wonderful bit of casting news. And as Harry Knowles from Ain't It Cool News says, "I hope he's a British agent that saves the lousy American agent's ass over and over."

Now although Mission Impossible 3 has got a pretty heavy weight cast already, I'm predicting a Pegg K.O. before the first bell.

Now looking at IMDb's entry for Spider-Man 3 here, you can see two cast members (Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace) which don't have characters assigned to them. I have to say that Empire's film ratings are normally spot on. In fact, one of the only times I have disagreed with them, was for The Pianist. Like Revolver, they gave it a measly 2 stars out of 5, when I thought it was a clear 5 star film. I can only hope a similar thing will happen here. But I doubt it. The reviews floating around for Revolver have been very critical.

I first saw a trailer for this movie a few weeks ago and I was very impressed - the directing and the visuals looked stunning.

And now that an official QuickTime trailer has been released, I am even more impressed. If you like all of Ziyi Zhang's previous movies (Crouching Tiger, House of Flying Daggers etc.) then check this trailer out - it looks like it's going to be massive.

No more teasers and dodgy quality clips! The full beast is here...

And it's pretty damn good... but not superb. It seems a bit dis-jointed as if it was rushed together to meet a deadline. Also, some of the effects look a little bit rubbery and I was REALLY hoping Radcliffe had matured as an actor. Evidence that he hasn't is there for all to see when he's asking Cho to the ball.

However, there are many positives. Some of the effects do actually look superb, the new characters look brilliant (especially 'Mad-Eye' Moody), the triwizard tournament looks to contain some great action sequences and the mood seems to be just right - a nice balance between the first two and the much darker outing of the third (although probably leaning more towards the third, which is a good thing).

I'm a bit gutted about this as I was actually thinking of doing something similar myself - making a trailer based on the footage available from the Superman Returns Video Journals. And now someone else has done it and is getting loads of exposure! Damn and blast!

I still can't actually believe Empire reported this to be the offical teaser trailer. I mean it's not bad but it's blatantly not of a professional standard - and certainly not Bryan Singer standard! I think we can expect to see something a lot better than this (14Mb QuickTime file) when Bryan goes to release the teaser.

With 16 weeks to go until King Kong is released, another Post-Production diary has been posted onto the 'Kong is King' website. The diary looks into the 'rotoscoping' department - the art of manually altering graphical elements of a single frame. My god Tom Hanks looks good as Langdon! I was a bit dubious at the casting choice on this one but with the hair cut, and the make up I think he looks absolutely brilliant.

The photos were taken at Lincoln Cathedral (England), where filming is currently taking place.

Pacino to star in French heist remake 'Rififi'

" Stone Village Pictures has acquired remake rights to the 1955 French heist classic Rififi and will make a contemporized version starring Al Pacino and directed by Harold Becker.

The original film was directed by Jules Dassin and revolved around a career thief who, upon leaving prison, discovers his wife has left him. He returns to crime, plotting a daring jewelry store heist.

The film would be the third collaboration between Becker and Pacino, after Sea of Love and City Hall. "

I've been away for a couple of days, but on my return I have come across the following movie news you need to check out...

First of all, there's a full trailer for Aeon Flux - the sci-fi action thriller set 400 years in the future and starring Charlize Theron. Check it out here.

HIGHLY Recommended Trailer - 'Shopgirl'

You just know this film is going to kick ass. It's based on the best selling novel by Steve Martin, Steve Martin is in it, oh... and Steve Martin did the screenplay as well.

It looks gorgeous (and not just because Claire Danes is in it) and very funny (see above comments regarding Steve Martin... and add Jason Schwartzman to the mix too).
